The first wood license plate frame was made as a one-off in San Diego in the Spring of 2012 for my personal vehicle.
I had recently purchased the car and immediately removed the cheap dealership license plate frame–now what to replace it with?
Wood working is in my blood: my father is carpenter, my mother a carver, one grandfather was a carpenter the other an avid wood worker, carver and specialist on the lathe. I’ve spent a lot of time on the lathe myself and have made everything from tables to guitars. Why not make a wooden license plate frame?
The Wood License Plate Frame is a unique and classy addition to any car, truck or SUV. The wood provides a stark contrast between the metal and plastic that makes up most of your vehicle and the mahogany construction is not only attractive, but it’s also strong and resistant to weathering.
On the About Us page you refer to “teak construction,” but elsewhere you write “mahogany.” Are there options?
Hi Bruce,
Sorry for the delay! I’ll have to find that discrepancy and fix it. My first couple runs of frames were made of teak but for the last two years I’ve actually switched to mahogany as it’s proven to hold up better.
